Life can get so busy — with work, routines, and endless things to do — that we forget to check in with ourselves. We run after goals and tasks, but we often ignore how we truly feel inside.
For a long time, I didn’t know how much I needed a break. Not just from work, but from the fast pace of everything. My solo trip to Pokhara gave me something more than rest — it gave me time to reconnect with myself.
Why This Trip Mattered
When we’re always on the move, we don’t get time to think or feel clearly. Worries, fears, and past hurts pile up. I didn’t even know how much I was carrying until I finally stopped and took a breath.
This trip wasn’t about sightseeing or taking perfect photos. It was about slowing down. It was about giving myself permission to simply be — with no pressure, no plans.
What I Discovered
1. The Power of Being Present
When things slow down, your feelings catch up with you. Sitting by the lake, walking without a goal, riding alone through quiet streets — those small moments helped me see parts of myself I had ignored for a long time.
2. Talking to My Past
Old memories came back — the hard times, the doubts, the pain. I thought about my younger self. I let those feelings speak. I wasn’t trying to fix the past — I was just listening.
3. Forgiveness and Letting Go
Letting go brings peace. I learned that forgiving isn’t about forgetting — it’s about choosing to move on. I forgave others, and more importantly, I forgave myself.
4. Neutrality is Peace
We often chase happiness. But during this trip, I found peace in just feeling calm — not sad, not overly happy — just okay. And that feeling was more powerful than I expected.
5. Self-Time is Essential, Not Optional
Spending time with myself wasn’t a luxury. It was a necessity. In giving myself time, I gave myself care, respect, and attention — the very things I often give to others but forget to give to myself.
Final Thoughts
This solo journey wasn’t about escaping. It was about coming back to who I am. It reminded me that life isn’t only about moving forward. Sometimes, we need to stop, breathe, and feel.
I didn’t come back completely changed or healed — but I did return lighter, clearer, and closer to myself.
And that’s a beautiful place to start again.
Have you ever taken time just for you? Maybe now is a good time.
